In 2014, Amie left her job as an accountant in a Chartered Accountancy firm to start a small bookkeeping business as she was frustrated with only seeing her clients once a year when signing their end of year accounts. She could see that the lack of contact and financial support was hindering growth opportunities and wanted to do something about it.
She started her business as a sole trader, providing small businesses with the opportunity to have financial support within their business, completing their bookkeeping and accounting, providing management reporting and the ability to act as their CFO to support growth.
Continued expansion in client numbers and employees saw the business restructure in 2016 to Figuration Limited. And while Amie along with her team continue to provide bookkeeping and accounting services, their expertise now also includes a raft of business consulting services.
Amie enjoys working with family owned and entrepreneurial start-up businesses looking for value added services and strong personal relationships. She loves the opportunity to help small and medium businesses achieve their growth and aspirational goals.
Amie prides herself on being a strong advocate for her industry bodies Accountants and Tax Agents Institute of New Zealand (ATAINZ) and the NZ Bookkeepers Association (ICNZB).
In March 2021 she was elected to the ATAINZ board and holds the membership portfolio, allowing her to pursue her passion for supporting the association to empower members (both current and future) to understand the value they can play in their clients’ businesses, advocating for recruiting new graduates and up and coming players in the industry and encouraging diversity and longevity of the association.
Amie has also mentored fellow bookkeepers and is always willing to provide guidance and advice to other bookkeepers where she can.
A passion for helping her community and those around her she holds a firm belief that stronger small businesses results in stronger communities.
When she isn’t shaping her clients businesses for success she’s spending time with her family, coaching netball teams, relaxing at the beach and giving surfing a go.
